🐕 Why I encourage sniffing on a dog walk.
The action of sniffing is hugely rewarding for dogs. They gain a full picture of their environment as well as recognising any neighbouring dogs, cats, birds etc. There is a lot of concentration involved as dogs process this sensory information, so if you have a particularly excitable dog, your dog is limited to short walks due to being postoperative or you as the owner are not able to walk long distances, sniffing is a great way to tire your dog out in a fun, stimulating and accessible way.
