In order to give your pet the greatest benefits of rehabilitation it's important to make use of multiple paraprofessionals. Below is a list of veterinary professionals that I regularly recommend to my clients.
Bluestone is run by owner, NICKI BARNES RCH, DIP HSA. Nicki holds both a Level 3 Certificate and an Advanced Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy. Nicki is a NARCH registered hydrotherapist and a qualified animal 1st aider. Bluestone has a large swimming pool as well as a state of the art canine specific under water treadmill used for specific rehabilitation purposes.
Run by veterinary surgeon Lucinda Dovey (MRCVS). This service provides acupuncture for dogs, cats and rabbits and chronic pain clinics for dogs and cats in a relaxed home environment based in Winterslow, Salisbury.
Vets4Pets in Amesbury offers Grade 4 Laser Therapy, and pain clinics (including acupuncture) with veterinary surgeon Iris Daunt-Withers MRCVS.
The Moores Orthopaedic Clinic is a purpose-built independent orthopaedic practice for dogs and cats. Andy Moores (BVSc, DSAS (Ortho), DipECVS, FRCVS) has specialised in canine and feline orthopaedics for over 20 years. He has spent most of this time in private referral practice but has also held positions at the University of Bristol Veterinary School and the Royal Veterinary College. He is widely respected as an orthopaedic surgeon and researcher and has been invited to lecture to other veterinary surgeons in the United States, Asia and Europe.
Celtic Equine are an ambulatory practice with four equine only vets covering West Hampshire, South Wilshire and East Dorset. Alan, Chloe, Lauren and Eli cover a 25 mile radius from our base in Minstead near Cadnam in The New Forest. Celtic Equine Vets was founded by Alan Hough with the aim of providing experienced equine vets offering a professional, reliable, personal and cost effective service. All our equipment is portable – digital radiography, ultrasound, video endoscopy and gastroscope. X-rays, scans, endoscopy and gastroscopy can be carried out at your yard. Most of the equipment is battery powered which allows us to work at premises and fields without mains electric. Alan holds a post graduate qualification in Equine Practice and has a particularly strong interest in equine dentistry and equine reproduction. Chloe has a particularly interested in internal medicine, emergency medicine and equine nutrition. Lauren has completed an equine internship at Donnington Grove Equine Hospital and has a particular interest in equine lameness. Eli heads up our advanced lameness service and also has a post graduate qualification in equine internal medicine.
Bearhouse Saddlery is a traditional saddlery workshop located on the Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire borders.
The team at Bearhouse are master saddlers. One of the resident Master saddlers at Bearhouse. Clare has been in the industry for over 30 years and is not only a Master saddler but an experienced qualified saddle fitter for both side saddle and astride saddles.
A professional, reliable and friendly farriery business based near Blandford Forum, Dorset. A registered farrier with the Worshipful Company of Farriers, Harry shoes all types and disciplines, specialising in remedial and performance shoeing to make sure your horse reaches its highest potential. Harry regularly travels throughout the south of England and can travel nationally and internationally if required.
Rebecca Wyatt (ACPAT, RAMP) is a highly experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated rehabilitation specialist that works with horses, dogs, rabbits and humans in Dorest and Somerset. Rebecca completed a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy from the University of Plymouth in 2010, further achieving a Distinction in Veterinary Physiotherapy on the MSc programme from the University of the West of England in 2015. A background of competing horses and teaching has given vital knowledge and understanding of the requirements for each equine discipline and Rebecca uses this to support her sessions.
Rachel Richardson has been involved in the sports dog world since representing Team GB at Agility in 2004 -2011. Rachel was also team vet throughout this time, and continued in this role until 2019. Her understanding of the sport is second to none, both as a competitor and as a sports vet, and cemented in her knowledge with the CCRP, a highly coveted and well regarded veterinary rehabilitation qualification. The Renew Centre offers soft tissue diagnostics as well as a selection of treatments such as Shockwave, acupuncture, platelet rich plasma and stem cell therapy.
